Shu

Liu Bei

 

 

First Emperor of Shu.  He is said to be a descendant of Liu Teng, a king of the Early Han.  He gathered together a volunteer army and participated in the war against the Yellow Turban Rebels.  He wandered China leading his men and fighting.  He eventually ends up ruling one of the Three Kingdoms.

Guan Yu

 

 

Head of Shu's Five Tiger Generals and blood brother to Liu Bei and Zhang Fei.  Courageous and loyal, he was worth "ten thousand troops".  He was left in charge of Jing upon Liu Bei's entry into Shu.  He was later captured and killed by Wu forces.

An officer of Shu.  He served Liu Biao and Han Xuan.  While serving Han Xuan, he has a terrific battle with Guan Yu.  After joining Liu Bei he continues to lead men into battle.  He joins the ranks of the Five Tiger Generals after Liu Bei enters Han Zhong.

The Prime Minister of Shu.  Known as the "Sleeping Dragon", he joins Liu Bei after Bei's famous three visits.  He was a genius at both internal affairs and foreign relations.  He led five northern campaigns and finally collapsed on Wu Zhang Plains.

Wei Yan

 

 

An officer of Shu.  Originally with Liu Biao, he eventually swore loyalty to Liu Bei.  A fine warrior, he was second only to the Five Tiger Generals in strength and ability.  After Zhuge Liang's death, he rebelled against Yang Yi.  However, he was killed by Ma Dai at Zhuge Liang's secret request.

Cao Cao

 

 

King of Wei.  He first showed potential during the Yellow Turban Rebellion as a leader of a local cavalry unit.  Following the death of Dong Zhuo, he traversed the continent laying the foundation for the state of Wei.  Posthumously, he is named Marshal Emperor of Wei.

Xiahou Yuan

 

 

An officer of Wei and cousin to Xiahou Dun.  From the start, he was part of Cao Cao's cadre.  He was particularly famous for his daring surprise attacks on various enemies.  He fell victim to a trap set by Shu's Fa Zheng at Mt. Ding Jun and was killed by Huang Zhong.

Xiahou Dun

 

 

A General of Wei and Cao Cao's cousin.  He lost his left eye to an arrow shot by Cao Xing in the fight with Lu Bu.  He survived and went on to lead Cao Cao's forces in a number of fights.  He died of illness soon after Cao Cao's death.

An officer of Wu and weilder of the Striking Staff.  He served from the time of Sun Jian.  With the help of Zhou Yu, he devised the "Bitter Meat" plan at the battle of Chi-Bi.  He pretended to switch allegiance to Cao Cao and succeeded in burning all of Cao Cao's ships.  This led to Wu's victory.

Sun Shang Xiang

 

 

Daughter of the Sun clan and the younger sister of Sun Ce and Sun Quan.  A somewhat manly woman, she took interest in the martial arts at a young age.  She later became Liu Bei's wife, but it is said that her ladies-in-waiting were constantly outside her room dressed in full armor.

An officer of Wu and broter-in-law to Sun Ce.  At Sun Ce's request he advises a young Sun Quan.  He takes command of Wu forces at the Battle of Chi-Bi and is successful in defeating Cao Cao's forces.  He earned the title the Beautiful Warrior Zhou.

Lu Xun

 

 

An officer of Wu and husband to Sun Ce's daughter.  It was his and Lu Meng's plans which eventually defeats Guan Yu.  He led the army as Grand Commander at Yi-Ling, and defeats Shu troops.  He was given Jing to protect and later becomes the Prime Minister of Wu.

An officer of Wu.  A fine warrior, he is persuaded by Sun Quan to study strategy.  With his learning he becomes an even better general.  He leads troops against and captures Jing.  He also succeeds in capturing Guan Yu.

Xiao Qiao

 

 

Daughter of Qiao Xuan.  She later married Zhou Yu of Wu.  Together with her older sister Da Qiao, they were known as the "Two Qiaos".  Upon hearing a rumor by Zhuge Liang that Cao Cao was after the Qiao sisters, Zhou Yu proposed war to Sun Quan, effectively drawing the Wu Kingdom into the Battle of Chi Bi.

Da Qiao

 

 

Daughter of Qiao Xuan.  She later married Sun Ce of the Wu Kingdom.  Together with her younger sister Xiao Qiao, they were known as two of the world's great beauties and referred to as the "Two Qiaos."  It is said that their beauty shone brighter than any moon or star and put the most beautiful flower to shame.

Taishi Ci

 

 

An officer of Wu.  On his mother's advice, he saves the Governor of Bei-Hai, Kong Rong.  He serves with Liu Yong for a time, but after Yong's defeat, he joins Sun Ce.  He dies in battle trying to take He-Fei for Sun Quan.

"Among men, Lu Bu; among horses, Red Hare."  An unequaled warrior, his successes were based on treachery.  He rampaged through the land and betrayed many people, until he himself was betrayed by his own men.

Dong Zhuo

Lieutenant Governor of Bing in the Later Han.  He enters the capital during the gathering called by He Jin, and in the confusion seizes power.  He deseats Emperor Shao, moves the capital to Chang-An, and declares himself Regent for the young Emperor.  He is killed by a plot by Wang Yun, Diao Chan, and Lu Bu.

 

To Receive:   - Battle at Hu Lao Gate; Wei side; defeat Diao Chan and Lu Bu (Free/Musou)

Diao Chan

Daughter of Wang Yun.  After Dong Zhuo seizes power, Wang Yun and Lu Bu plot to use Diao Chan to tempt Dong Zhuo and trick him out of power.  She and Wang Yun devise a fake Imperial order to get Dong Zhuo away from his guards to be assassinated by Lu Bu, as she watches.

 

To Receive:   - Battle at Hu Lao Gate; defeat Diao Chan (Free/Musou)

Yuan Shao

One of the famous Yuan family, he was the leader of the forces who fought against Dong Zhuo.  He built up a large force north of the river and warred with Cao Coa, who sought control over all of China.  His indecisveness was his downfall and he suffered a terrible defeat at Guan-Du.

 

To Receive:  - Battle at Guan Du; defeat Yuan Xi and Yuan Shang; If it doesn't work, kill everyone

Meng Huo

King of the Nanman.  After Liu Bei's death, he rebels against Shu.  He fights with Zhuge Liang repeatedly.  He is captured and released seven times.  After the seventh time he swears loyalty and means it.

Zhu Rong

Wife of King Meng Huo of the Nanman.  She is said to have been a descendant of the legendary fire god, Zhu Long.  She was a fine fighter and wielded the "Flying Sword".  She captured both Zhang Yi and Ma Zhong alive, but was later defeated by Wei Yan and Ma Dai.

According to an ancient Chinese myth, a beautiful goddess called Nu Wa created many babies using clay, water and mud. When she breathed ever so lightly upon them, they came alive. Nu Wa took them all into her arms and named them "human beings."
