The People Talk
Soundtrack Yah so I used
to be a part of this film company called Restraining Hollywood.
It all started a few years ago, 2005ish. Brandon VanVliet and
I both worked at Deja Vu downtown Minneapolis. He decided one
day that he wanted to make movies, and made a short film called Up
North. It had a small cult success, and as he was finishing it
up, I went to him with an idea for a film. He liked it so we
decided to make the movie. I came up with the idea, helped
write it, helped direct it, made the website for Restraining
Hollywood (which has since been replaced), I made a bunch of music
for it, I taught myself Final Cut Pro so we could edit it, I acted
in it, helped design the covers and most of the artwork for it, made
the trailers, basically I had a hand in everything and did a
shitload of stuff. Anyways we had a falling out and I don't
work with them anymore. The soundtrack was being discussed
before I left, but nothing was set in stone. Then one day my
buddy Damon asked me if I had heard the soundtrack yet, and I said
no, and he said I had 2 songs on it, and I said really? and he
said yes! So he contacted the guy who did all the work putting
the soundtrack together, Joel Whealock, and he gave me 100 copies of
it. I haven't sold one single copy, but if you are interested,
it's for sale at Treehouse Records on 26th and Lyndale Ave South
in Uptown, Minneapolis, MN. It's got 16 songs from a ton
of great local artists. I must say I like every single song on
this album, it's all over the place, Rap, to Rap Rock, to Rock, to
Hip Hop, to Electronica, to Electronica with singing over it, to
Metal, to Heavy Metal, to Punk, to Indie, to Acoustic, even a really
funny 80s Hair Metal song.
Here's My Songs:
Dirty's Theme
-
this song was over the Liquor Store scene. Vincent
nearly gets molested by a random manboy and this song is playing
while that happens.
Tokeatron
- This song was used on one of the trailers to People Talk.
Here's some other music I did in
that flick:
On The Way To JDogg's - Trying for a Type 0
Negative feel, was thinking about singing over it at one time
Jungle Luv
- Christopher McGuire came up with this idea for music
over the Pendleton scene
The Apsaras Told Me - When Vincent gets back
from JDogg's
Intro
- i actually overlapped this with another one over the
beginning logo thingy
Call from Tyrone - oooo spooky
Gracious - Over the scene with that one loser
Creepy Thing Over Marvin - oooo creepy
